Porcelain Veneers
Marysville, WA

Woman smiling with her porcelain veneers at Grove Street Family Dentistry in Marysville, WAYour teeth are an essential part of your mouth. They perform a variety of important functions, including eating and speaking. Another important function of your teeth is to provide you with a beautiful smile. When you have imperfections in your teeth, even minor ones, the beauty of your smile is dulled. Imperfections in your teeth can impact your confidence, and leave the wrong impression with those you meet. At Grove Street Family Dentistry, we can help to restore minor imperfections in your teeth with porcelain veneers.

What are Veneers?

Small imperfections in your teeth can cause serious cosmetic issues. Veneers can transform your smile, with the ability to alter the size, shape or color of affected teeth. They are thin, shell-like restorations that are designed to restore the beauty of your teeth and give you back your confident smile.

Why Do We Use Porcelain?

Veneers are typically made from one of two different materials – composite resin or porcelain. Both materials match the color of your natural enamel. However, at Grove Street Family Dentistry, we provide porcelain veneers. Composite resin is more affordable, but it is significantly more fragile, more likely to experience damage. Porcelain veneers may cost more than composite resin, but they are also much stronger and will last you much longer. The material can also be finished to match the exact color of the rest of your teeth, and it mimics the light reflecting properties of your natural enamel.

Fixing Your Minor Imperfections

Our porcelain veneers can fix some dental imperfections:
•  Minor cracks or chips in the enamel of your teeth that do not extend into the dentin layer.
•  Minor overlapping (alignment issues) that does not interfere with your oral health or the functions of your mouth.
•  Gaps between your teeth.
•  Discoloration that cannot be fixed with professional whitening treatments.

How Veneers are Placed

The procedure for porcelain veneers typically takes two visits. During your first visit, the affected teeth are prepared. This process involves the removal of a small amount of the enamel from the front surfaces of the teeth being treated and is done under local anesthetic. After the teeth are prepared, we then take an impression. The impression is sent to our lab, where your veneers are designed and created.

It can take up to two weeks for your veneers to be ready. If necessary, we can provide you with temporary veneers. When they are ready, we will check them for fit. If everything looks good, we apply an acidic gel to your teeth, which creates a rough texture. This texture helps the veneers to bond better with your teeth. The gel is washed off and your teeth dried. We then apply the dental cement and affix your veneers in place.

Benefits of Veneers

There are several benefits that come with porcelain veneers:
•  Porcelain provides you with a more natural appearance.
•  The material is stain resistant.
•  They are biocompatible (will not irritate your gums).
•  Porcelain can withstand normal use.
•  With a restored smile, you regain your confidence.
